Opal Collection | October Birthstone Jewelry

One-of-a-kind opal jewelry in sterling silver and 14k gold by Ulka Rocks

Opal is one of the most mesmerizing gemstones on Earth, famous for its play of color, the dancing flashes of red, green, blue, and violet that shift with every angle. Each piece in this collection features genuine opal in handcrafted settings of sterling silver, gold vermeil, 14k gold, and 18k gold, from statement pendants to everyday earrings and rings. Australian black and white opals, Ethiopian welo opals, Mexican fire opals, pink opals, dendrite opals, and boulder opals are all represented, each with its own personality. Every piece is hand-selected or designed by Ulka.

About This Collection

Opals are nature's most unpredictable gems. The play of color inside each stone is completely unique, shifting from fiery reds to ocean blues depending on the angle. As the October birthstone, opal demands a bit more care than harder stones, but that's part of what makes it special. I select opals for their color play and fire, then design settings that protect while letting all that color shine through.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should I care for opal jewelry?
Opals contain water and need moisture protection. Avoid extreme heat, dry environments, and prolonged direct sunlight. Never use ultrasonic cleaners. Store in a soft pouch and occasionally wipe with a slightly damp cloth to maintain hydration.
What birthstone month is opal?
Opal is the birthstone for October (alongside tourmaline). It's also the gem for the 14th wedding anniversary.
Are Ulka Rocks jewelry pieces one-of-a-kind?
Many pieces are truly one-of-a-kind due to unique stone combinations and natural gemstone variations. Other styles are produced in limited small batches. Since I use natural gemstones, each piece has unique color and character even within the same style. Once sold, most designs cannot be exactly replicated.
