The Story & Styling

Ethiopian opal carries the full play-of-color spectrum, with greens, blues, and oranges shifting as the piece moves. The alternating emerald and diamond halo frames the opal cleanly, with the emeralds picking up the green flash inside the stone and the baguettes catching every other angle.

Wears beautifully solo on a fine 14K or 18K chain at the collarbone. Pairs with cream, ivory, sage, and warm neutrals.

Ulka's Expert Insight: Welo opal from the Welo region in Ethiopia is the source for most Ethiopian opal in the market today. The best stones show even play-of-color across the dome with no dead spots, and the diamond halo on a piece like this is a quiet way to amplify the fire without overwhelming the stone.
