I recently attended one of the largest jewelry shows in the world in Las Vegas, with over 30,000 jewelry professionals in attendance. This show includes buyers from around the world who are purchasing inventory for their stores for the next year. I took this opportunity to talk to as many vendors and buyers as possible and observed what vendors were showcasing and what people were buying. The world of jewelry continues to evolve with so many innovative designs, exquisite craftsmanship, and stunning gemstones. I am writing this to share with you what I learned and what jewelry trends I think you’ll see over the next year.
Organic Inspired Designs
I saw numerous jewelry designs inspired by nature. Organic motifs such as leaves, flowers, and vines are finding their way into so many jewelry pieces. Delicate floral arrangements in diamond and gemstone clusters were everywhere, offering a touch of feminine charm. I also observed lots of animal and insect jewelry - think cats, dog, bees, butterflies and dragon flies. These nature-inspired designs are perfect for those who seek to show respect for our earth.
Earrings seemed to take the center stage with bold designs. Oversized earrings made with colorful gemstones are definitely in vogue. I saw so many styles, from dangling earrings, cascading chandelier styles to asymmetrical designs. Remember, statement earrings are not just for special occasions - don’t be afraid to wear them every day with a nice t-shirt and jeans - will take your outfit up a notch.
Pendants continue to be a timeless and versatile jewelry staple. While natural gemstone pendants continue to be hot, an evolving trend is the use of unique materials, like acrylic, enamel, resin and even recycled glass. I saw so many pendants that combined beautiful gemstones and diamonds with these other materials. I found lots of personalized birthstone pendants combined with symbolic motifs. Will definitely continue to see the layering of pendants, where multiple pendants of varying lengths and styles are worn together to create a visually appealing and personalized look.
Layering necklaces has been a popular trend for a while and appears to continue to gain momentum. Buyers are experimenting with various chain lengths, textures of beads, and pendant styles to create personalized and multi-dimensional looks. Combining chains or beads with gemstone pendants or mixing different metal tones adds an air of sophistication and individuality.
While diamonds are forever, colored gemstones are taking the spotlight. Vibrant gemstones like emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and opals are being embraced for their unique hues and captivating allure. Collections included eye-catching cocktail rings to sparkly necklaces to gorgeous pendants to stunning bracelets.
Stylish jewelry is all about embracing nature, color and individuality. So, whether you're seeking a show-stopping piece or an everyday accessory, keep an eye on these trends as you explore the world jewelry over the next year. As your personal jewelry shopper, I will continue to design and procure jewelry that will both timeless and on trend.
